This CME activity is designed to meet the educational needs of PCPs, Endocrinologists, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants
Activity Goals and Needs
Hopspitalization rates are about five times higher in the Bronx. There is evidence of a gap in the ability of healthcare professional to properly and consistently implement guideline recommendations in clinical practice. There are also specific challenges involved in the treatment of different high-risk minority patient populations. The goal of this activity is to address these and other gaps connected to obesity, asthma, and the diabetes epidemic.
Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this CME activity, participants should be able to:
-Describe the health consequences of Diabetes, Obesity, & Asthma
-Describe some methods for reducing Diabetes, Obesity, & Asthma
-Review the current understanding Diabetes, Obesity, & Asthma of which increases the risk of many diseases and health conditions
-Discuss the physiologic components common to Diabetes, Obesity, & Asthma
-Provide physicians with the tools needed to educate their patients
-Understand the health implications of the Diabetes, Obesity, & Asthma epidemic in the Bronx
-Understand the possible approaches to prevention and treatment
-Understand the Common Health & Environmental Dangers
